Shared Living

Shared Living is one option in a range of housing and support services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and/or Autism. Shared Living allows an individual to live in a family-style setting and become a member of the household, the family, and the community.

The Assistance Plus Shared Living model can support people in one>of two “family” setting options.

The first option is a home owned, leased, or rented by the individual. Individuals are provided direct supports in this home.

The second option is for the individual to join a family in a residence owned leased or rented by the family.

We are offering housing options and support services for individuals with intellectual disabilities and autism living in Maine as one of the least restrictive and most cost-effective options of home support services available in Maine.

Shared living offers a home environment for consumers to live while they receive the necessary support to be successful. Under this model, the consumer becomes part of the family with a consistent, stable environment where they can thrive and grow with community inclusion.

Assistance Plus is seeking both consumers and providers in to help grow this program.
