Course Requirements and Policies

Class Requirements

Students must be eighteen(18) years of age, have a tenth(10) grade education, and be able to read and write English. Students must attend all scheduled classes and successfully complete all course requirements. A student missing or late to a class will be required to take the entire class over at their own expense, unless arrangements are made previously with the instructor. No refunds are given for students who miss or are late to class.

The behavioral health professional (BHP) class requires proof of current CPR, first aid, and blood borne pathogen certification prior to class enrollment.

Class Manual Policy

Every student will receive a class manual to keep as long as the course is in the classroom setting. Students are required to pay a thirty(30) dollar fee for each manual. The cost of the manual must be paid prior to the first day of the class.

On-line students will not receive course manuals. The course manuals can be downloaded from the Assistance Plus website at the student’s expense.

Student Certificate Policy

Assistance Plus will mail the certificate for any completed course as soon as it receives confirmation that you have passed the course. We also keep a copy in your file. The following two(2) courses, CRMA and PSS, require the employer or employee to obtain the certification from the state website.

Certified residential medication aide CRMA five(5) day and CRMA recertification certificates can be downloaded and printed from the state’s website approximately two(2) weeks after completion of the course. Visit the state’s website at: https://portalxw.bisoex.state.me.us/dhhs-apps/assisted/certificate.asp

Personal support specialist (PSS) certificates can be downloaded and printed from the state’s website approximately two(2) weeks after completion of the course. Visit the state’s website at: www.maine.gov/dhhs/dlrs

Student Policy

Students who are caught cheating will immediately be dismissed from the class. There are no refunds for students who are found cheating. Allowing another student to copy your answers is perceived as cheating.

For Assistance Plus employees, disciplinary action may occur. An Assistance Plus employee who is found cheating must pay for the next course at his/her own expense.
