Private Duty Nursing
This unique program is designed specifically for children with special medical needs and is managed by our Long Term Care Department. Private duty nursing is a coordinated process using the advice of the child’s physician, registered nurse, case manager, and family members to maximize the child’s health and safety.
The registered nurse is responsible for implementing and monitoring the medical services provided to the child. Block-time services may include one of the following disciplines depending on the level of care determined by the professional team:
Personal support specialists.
Certified nursing assistants.
Licensed practical nurses.
Registered nurses.
Every sixty-two days, the registered nurse will revise the child's individualized care plan. The care plan will be sent to the physician for review and approval. All changes in the child's condition will be reported by the registered nurse overseeing the case to the physician for follow-up.
Currently providing services in Androscoggin, Cumberland, Franklin, Hancock, Kennebec, Knox, Lincoln, Oxford, Penobscot, Piscataquis, Sagadahoc, Somerset, and Waldo counties.
